Thank you for attending the 2018 Neural Interfaces Conference!

The Neural Interfaces Conference Steering Committee in collaboration with the University of Minnesota organized the 43rd Neural Interfaces Conference (NIC) at the Minneapolis Marriott Hotel City Center.  This conference has a long history of working on key problems to advance and translate neural interface technology for human applications.  It began as an annual "NIH Neural Prosthesis Workshop" in 1970 in the form of a contractors' meeting, and has since grown to become the leading conference for the neural interfaces research community.

The conference provides a forum for presentation and discussion of state-of-the-art developments in areas that include neural stimulation, neural plasticity, functional electrical stimulation, deep brain stimulation, auditory prosthesis, visual prosthesis, cortical prosthesis, peripheral nerve interfaces, biomaterials, microelectrode array technology, brain computer/machine interfaces, and other related areas.

The NIC is arranged as a set of plenary sessions where each session has driving questions. The research community defines the sessions and has reached out to find leading scientists, clinicians, and engineers to address the questions in each session.  In addition, program managers in the federal government driving the BRAIN Initiative and related programs as well as industry leaders will be joining us at the NIC, creating excellent opportunities for sharing new ideas and networking.

Conference attendees typically include a diverse group of scientists, engineers, and clinicians, representing the basic and applied science of translating neural interface technologies.  This conference aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience amongst these groups to drive future neural interface development.
